Rita Ippolito, B.S. , CPDT-KA

In 2008 Rita received a certificate in dog training from Animal Behavior College. During her tenure as an assistant trainer and trainer with the area’s most well known training group, she returned to school, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree from Canisius College in Animal Behavior, Ecology and Conservation in 2013. While at Canisius, Rita interned in the canine Behavior and Training department at the SPCA serving Erie County. Upon her graduation the internship became a staff position as a Behavior Assistant.

In 2016 she became the lead trainer for the ‘Pups at the Pen’ program, a joint venture between the SPCA and Erie County Correctional Facility.  The inmates receive dogs from the SPCA  for a six week intensive training program.

Rita is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer-Knowledge Assessed and a member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers and  Certified Canine Good Citizen Evaluator.

Rita’s interest in canine behavior and training has been life long. As a new mother in 1985 she was introduced to reward-based training via Karen Pryor’s Don’t Shoot the Dog. It has been her passion ever since.

Rita shares her home with China and Caius, 2 rescued Pitbulls, 3 wild pugs – Violet, Pablo & Buttercup and 4  rescued cats – Nim, Fig, Rhubarb & Jolene.
